8 hours of Independence

Mike Romasco and Mark Rasmussen tackled the 8 Hours of Independence in their respective Master's Cat 1 groups. With temperatures over 80 degrees at the 10 am start, the hilly and technical 6.5 mile loop heated quickly in the opening laps. With 1,100 feet of climbing per lap, a race of attrition in the 95-degree heat was inevitable. An ample supply of Hammer Endurolytes, Heed and Amino Vital was a definite advantage on the day.
Romasco turned in 6 laps in 6 hours 17 minutes to discover he was the lone entrant in his group...and winner in the 45+ Cat 1 group.
